Kateramma Devi is considered a fierce and powerful form of Goddess Parvati. According to the Puranas, when the atrocities of evil demons increased in the world, Goddess Parvati assumed the Kaushiki form with the purpose of destroying them, and later incarnated as Goddess Kali. After Kali defeated and destroyed the demons, her extreme ferocity, cruelty, and terrifying nature remained in the form of an energy presence. This remaining fierce form is known as “Kateramma.”
The worship of Goddess Pratyangira is considered extremely powerful and highly result-oriented. It is believed to be a divine force that responds immediately even to the most difficult and seemingly impossible problems. If anyone directs evil intentions, tantric practices, mantra-based attacks, enemy rituals, or unjust actions against us, it is firmly believed that by praying to the Goddess with devotion, those negative effects will be completely reversed and removed.
Goddess Pratyangira is well known as a deity who responds quickly to the struggles of devotees and grants fast results to sincere prayers. Through her worship, negative energies are completely destroyed, and positivity, peace, and prosperity increase in life.
At the Kambalipura Katyayani Temple, Goddess Pratyangira has been installed in a very unique and special manner. The Goddess is being established in a rare and grand form, spreading across approximately 252 feet, and it is said that such a significant installation is extremely rare in the world.
Through the divine presence of Goddess Pratyangira, problems such as evil eye (drishti dosha), domination practices (vashikarana), mohana kriya (attraction/illusion rituals), vedha badha (spiritual disturbances), and various unknown sufferings are believed to be completely resolved. Devotees share that even the shadow of the Goddess is enough to reduce the influence of negative forces.
As a result of this divine worship, negativity disappears and a life filled with positive thinking, self-confidence, and peace is created. Such a powerful and rare installation is considered one of its kind, making this temple a great divine center that offers devotees a truly miraculous spiritual experience.
In this sacred kshetra, many special poojas, homas, and yagas are performed with great devotion to relieve the sufferings of devotees. Among them, the Sankashta Hara Maha Ganapati Pooja is considered extremely special, and it is strongly believed that it removes difficulties and obstacles from a devotee’s life.
Poojas performed specifically during Rahu Kala are regarded as highly powerful and result-oriented, as devotees receive the special blessings of Mahadeshwari Devi during that time. As per scriptural belief, divine Shakti energy flows from the sacred waters of the seven directions, and through the Brahma Dwara and Mangala Dwara, the power of Mahadeshwari becomes highly active in this kshetra. During this period, special naivedya offerings, homas, and poojas are conducted.
Every month, on the day of the Aridra Nakshatra, the Shiva–Parvati Kalyanotsava is performed with deep devotion. Along with this, daily homas and havans are conducted regularly in the temple’s yagashala.
Especially during the Ashadha month, the Navachandika Yaga related to Chamundeshwari Devi is performed with great faith and devotion. In addition, devotees can also conduct special homas as per their wish, such as Chandika Homa, Navachandika Homa, and Mahalakshmi Homa.
It is believed that by performing these homas and yagas, obstacles in life are removed, negative energies are eliminated, and positivity, peace, and prosperity increase. For those affected by issues such as mantra-related disturbances, evil eye (drishti dosha), unknown fears, or other doshas, suitable remedies and protective measures are carried out as per scriptures. Devotees have experienced that these doshas are resolved quickly through such spiritual practices.
Overall, the poojas, homas, and yagas conducted in this kshetra are divine means that remove negativity from devotees’ lives and bring positivity, strength, and mental peace.
This sacred kshetra (holy place) has been sanctified by the divine presence of Goddess Kaushiki–Kali–Kateramma, the fierce and powerful manifestation of Goddess Parvati. According to the Puranas, in order to destroy evil forces, the Mother Goddess incarnated as Kaushiki, later assuming the form of Kali and revealing her intense divine fury. That very powerful energy is believed to have settled in this place, and over time came to be worshipped as Goddess Kateramma.
Around three hundred years ago, this entire region was covered with dense forest, filled with trees such as jalli, banyan, and bodri. Elders narrate that during those times, one could hear the sound of the Goddess’s anklets as she moved through the area, and the fragrance of jasmine would spread throughout the surroundings. Gradually, as human settlement developed, this place evolved into a recognized spiritual kshetra.
In this temple, the installation (pratishta) and worship were carried out according to the will of the Goddess through a family that has been performing the rituals for generations. The pooja began in a very simple manner as per the Goddess’s command, and devotees experienced only blessings and positive results. With time, the temple continued to grow and flourish. Today, it stands as a major Shakti Peetha, offering refuge, protection, and peace to countless devotees.
